Biological and economical evaluation of african and european catfish rearing in water recirculation systems

Abstract
The possibility of rearing African and European catfish in water recirculation systems was analysed. African catfish showed higher growth rate, but feed conversion rate was similar in the two species. Fish losses due to cannibalism was lower in European catfish. Water quality in the rearing tanks met the demands of both species. Economical results were better for European catfish.
