Abstract

Incubation of eggs of vendace from four lakes was conducted during three seasons. Incubation period till the first hatch varied little within seasons. Hatching period varied greatly. Fertilizability was high, survival till the stage of gastrula was lower than during later periods till the „golden eye" stage. Significant influence of sperm motility or percentage of good sperm and of energy content of eggs proved that these characteristics can be useful in determining the reproduction success. However, higher fraction of variability of survival could be attributed to the origin of vendace and an even higher fraction remained undetermined.
