Sanitary and bacteriological status of heated Konin lakes

Abstract
It was found that Konin lakes were strongly polluted. Over 19% of the samples under study qualified the lakes into the III class of purity or beyond any class. Water in the channels was even more polluted; over 46% of the samples were disqualified. Only 15% of water samples showed no pollution measured with Coli counts. From among the isolated mesophilic microorganisms the most numerous were bacteria from the family Enterobacteriaceae and the genus Pseudomonas. A number of pathogenic bacteria were isolated from lake water, and especially from channel waters, among others from the genera Salmonella and Yersinia.
